Job Description

Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Quantity Surveyor with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) projects to join our team. The Quantity Surveyor (MEP) will be responsible for managing all costs related to MEP projects, from initial calculations to final figures.

Job Responsibility:
1. Conducting on-site measurements and preparing accurate quantity take-offs for MEP systems.
2. Analyzing project drawings and specifications to determine accurate quantities of materials required.
3. Estimating costs of labor, materials, and equipment needed for MEP projects.
4. Collaborating with engineers and project managers to ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented.
5. Monitoring project progress and budget to ensure financial targets are met.
6. Preparing and submitting variations, claims, and invoices related to MEP works.
7. Keeping updated records and documentation for all MEP-related costs.

Candidate Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or related field.
2. Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on MEP projects.
3. Strong knowledge of MEP systems, materials, and construction methods.
4. Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
5. Proficiency in relevant software for quantity surveying.
6. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
7. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Skills Description

  • Minimum 10 years overall QS experience, including at least 5 years with a MEP contractor; Qatar or GCC experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or another relevant construction discipline
  • Membership in a recognized professional quantity surveying institution, such as RICS (MRICS) or equivalent, would be an advantage
  • Strong experience in preparation of monthly progress invoices/payment applications to the Client, including resolving certification issues
  • Strong experience in measurement, quantity take-offs, interim valuations, variations and subcontractor payment/account management
  • Proven ability to prepare cost-to-complete forecasts, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and labour productivity assessments
  • Practical experience in contractual notices and substantiation of variations, prolongation, disruption and other claim-related costs
  • Advanced Excel skills and preferably experience with RIB Candy, SAP or similar commercial systems, together with strong English communication and reporting skills
